My First Day at School

The day a student goes to school for the first time is called first day at school. My first day at school is a memorable day for me. It is a red-letter day for me. When I was in primary school, I longed for this day. At last it came. I passed the PSC Examination with credit. My memorable day was 07th January, 2013. I put on my new cloths and went out for the school at 9 a.m. with my parents’ blessings. I reached the campus of Coxsbazar Government Girls High School. It took me some fifteen minutes to reach there. My feet seemed not to have touched the ground. I found myself in a new world. I saw some girls in front of a board. I went there and saw our class routine. It was 10 a.m. According to routine I entered a room. I sat down on the second bench of the second row. After a few moments a smart gentleman entered. We all stood up and honoured him. He was the teacher of Bangla. He advised us to be punctual and regular, to be obedient to teachers, to be sympathetic and to be friendly with our classmates. The bell duly rang. The teacher left the class. After four periods we all took our Tiffin. When the bell rang. I entered the classroom. After 7th period the class was ended. I left the school with a cheerful mind. That day was very remarkable in my life.

Computer is a wonderful electronic device. We can store, analyse and send data using computer. Though it works by the commands of the operator, it performs everything skillfully and accurately. The history of its invention is very long. None can claim to be its sole inventor. From Pascal to Haward Akin, numerous scientists contributed to its invention. Still it is being enriched by many other scientists. Computers have ample utilities and therefore it is now widely used at home, office, enterprises and many other places. Present world is greatly dependent on computer. Financial activities across the world are totally dependent on computer. It has reduced man’s work pressure. Complicated mathematical calculation can be done easily. Millions of data can be stored here and we can easily find them. It has reduced the use of paper. Computer has some demerits. It weakens the eyesight of the operator. Sometimes children get addicted to using computer for games. Though the world is far advanced with computer, Bangladesh is at its initial stage with it. So, we require the development of this sector.

Keeping Good Health

Good health refers to the physical and mental soundness which makes one healthy, fit and active and keeps one free from diseases. But it is not easy to maintain good health. In order to keep good health, one should follow certain rules of health. One should take regular physical exercise, proper rest or sleep and above all, a balanced diet. But it is a matter of regret that most of our people, as they are living below the poverty line, cannot manage all the foods necessary for maintaining good health. But even the rich and educated people of our country, though they take a wide variety of foods, are not conscious of the rules of good health. The ever-increasing problems of our day-to-day life seem to affect our health greatly. They give rise to frustration, hopelessness, mental disorder and much other socio-economic confusion. All these factors take away the peace of our mind and affect our health. However, a person with a simple and carefree life is likely to enjoy a sound mind in a sound body.

A Railway Station

A railway station is place where trains stop for the passengers to get into and get off from the train. It is a busy place. It becomes very busy because of the arrival of trains. Here the passengers are found to stand in a queue to collect their tickets in front of the ticket counter. A big station is always crowded with passengers, hawkers, and posters. There are bookstalls, book-sellers and waiting rooms in such a stations. Vendors shout their trade cries. When a train reaches at the station, the passengers hurry to get off from the train. At the same time passengers waiting for the train want to get into the train. As a result, a collision of two groups of passengers takes place. The whistling sound of the departing train creates a situation of vacuum in the minds of the passengers. When the train leaves the station, it becomes deserted and buzzing sound of the passengers ends. A railway station is often a den for the anti-social elements. It is a suitable place for the beggars to carry on their trade. It is an unhygienic place too. The authority should look into it.

How to make a snack?

To make a snack is not very difficult thing. But it was not known to me. I ask my mom how I can make a snack vey shortly. With her help I have made a vegetable cutlet. Here is the recipe:

  • Medium size carrot 1
  • Medium size potato 1
  • Medium size beet root (optional) 1
  • Beans 4-5
  • Peas 100 gms
  • Garlic 1 small piece
  • Green chili 2-3
  • Coriander leaves a few
  • Medium sizes onion finely cut 1
  • Maida & add little bit of water and mix them well (it should be pouring like idli flour) 2-3 tbsp
  • Slices of bread & powdered 3-4

To take all these things we are going to next step to get a vegetable cutlet:

  • Cut all the above said vegetables.
  • Wash & Pressure-cook with little bit of water, turmeric powder & salt.
  • Smash them & keep it aside (if there is any excess water in the cooked vegetables just drain).
  • Heat one tablespoon of oil.
  • Fry onions till it turns into brown & add the grounded paste and sauté for few seconds.
  • Add the smashed vegetables & fry till it gets thickened. Wait to cool.
  • Then make them into small balls and dip it in the above said Maida consistency & immediately smear them in the above said powder and spread them in the plate or paper to dry.
  • Deep-fry or roast both the sides of them by adding little bit of oil till it turns into brown in the wok or thava.

Now we have got a good delicious vegetable cutlet to taste it.

The lion’s Mane

The mane of the adult male lion, unique among cats, is one of the most distinctive characteristics of the species. It makes the lion appear larger, providing an excellent intimidation display.
According to our textbook a lion was sitting beside a river. In the river water he saw his own reflection and thought his mane was too old. As a king he roared that this old unruly mane does not fit for him. To become outraged the dipped his paw into the river and tried desperately to smooth his mane. There were present Zebra, Giraffe, Vulture, Hyena and snake. Everyone used some flattery words for their king except snake. The snake told the lion that his mane is nothing but a king is wise everybody is obliged to obey him not to see his mane or hairstyle. The king thought some while and then he understood what snake said it was right. His supreme power would be expressed from his wise not from his mane.
From that day the king became wise and forgot what like his mane was.

An old people’s home is a place where old people live and are cared for when they are too old to look after themselves.
A retirement home sometimes called an old people’s home, but this can also refer to a nursing home is a multi-residence housing facility intended for senior citizens. Typically each person or couple in the home has an apartment-style room or suite of rooms. Good Health / Health is Wealth / How To Remain Fit

Good health means sound body. The body that is free from all sorts of diseases is called good health. We can keep good health to follow some rules and regulations. To keep good health one should rise early in the morning and take some physical exercises. Besides, eating vegetables, drinking pure water and eating balanced diet are the prerequisite of keeping good health. I am a student and I always try to follow the rules of health. Because, I know that health is wealth and health is the root of all happiness. Balance diet is essential for keeping good health. The floods that contain carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals are called balanced diet. If people do not take balanced diet, they often suffer from various diseases. Therefore, I always try to have balanced diet. The importance of keeping good health can not be described in words. There is a proverb that a sound mind depends on a sound body. A healthy man is really lucky because he can do his duties properly and become successful in life. Therefore, we should keep good health to lead healthy, wealthy comfortable and diseases free life.

Mobile Phone/ Cell Phone

Mobile phone is such a cordless phone by which people can communicate to others immediately. It is an important medium of communication. It is one of the amazing inventions of modern science. We can communicate with the people at home and about in the shortest possible time through it. The use of mobile phone is more convenient than telephone. Especially businesspersons, service holders, doctors and other professionals use it. Though it was a sign of aristocracy in the past, now it is found in everyone’s hand in our country. Today we cannot do a single bay without it. Before the invention of mobile phone communication and messaging system was very hard. Nevertheless, mobile has now lessened the distance of the world. It has brought the world to our reach. At present, one can use internet in one’s mobile set and communicate with the whole world. In spite of having all these merits, mobile phone has some demerits too. The miscreants can easily commit crimes and maintain their secrecy through mobile phone. Besides, our younger generation is also getting addicted to it day by day. They are often seen talking late night to their girlfriends or boyfriends. As a result, their health and study are hampered seriously. Mobile phone is also injurious to our health. Cosmic radiation caused by the mobile phone damages our body. It harms our brain when we talk through it. Again, the excessive use of mobile often causes fatal diseases like brain tamer, cancer etc. Children and pregnant women are forbidden to use mobile phone. So, we should be conscious in using it.

Unity of strength

The proverb unity is strength tells us that “united we stand, divided we fall”. Unity refers to the condition or state of being one. A rope is strong because its threads are united. We cannot break it unless the threads are separated. Nothing can be achieved without unity. Unity is necessary for the survival of all. Today our world requires a lot of unity among the nations to tackle with important issues such as environmental pollution. Unity not only leads to the prosperity of a person but also to the prosperity of a nation. Unity helps in strengthening relationships. Unity is like a link that connects a long chain.
If we are united none can destroy us. Unity helps in achieving triumph. It can destroy terrorism. The ultimate success always depends upon the people. The security of a nation depends upon the integrity and harmony among its citizen. During the past many countries were in the control of foreign powers. There wasn’t any unity among the people and rulers. This enabled the foreign powers to easily conquer them and rule them. We achieved our freedom through the combined effort of our great leaders and our ancestors.
Unity is essential to maintain peace in the world. Unity helps to avert wars. We must also live in accord with the environment. The thought that “I am a human, all humans are my brothers and sisters” symbolizes unity. Thus knowing the power of unity, all of us should stay together. If and when misunderstanding arises it must be talked out without beating around the bush.
Thus unity means “all for one, and one for all”.

Travelling by air

Air travel is a form of travel in vehicles such as airplanes, helicopters, hot air balloons, blimps, gliders, hang gliding, parachuting or anything else that can sustain flight.
Air travel can be separated into two general classifications: national/domestic and international flights. Flights from one point to another within the same country are called domestic flights. Flights from a point in one country to a point within a different country are known as international flights.
Travel class on an airplane is usually split into a two, three or four class model: Economy Class, Premium Economy, Business Class or Club Class and First Class.
Mita has no experience on travelling by air. When her uncle and aunt want to get her to Thailand for visiting she is so much excited because it is her first time to board a plane. They wait for Bangladesh Biman in the lounge of Shahjalal International airport. Filling up a form with the necessary information Mita faces with immigration officer for checking her passport visa and get stamp it. The officer asks her some questions as usual. Mita’s uncle warns them what is allowed and what is not allowed in the airplane.
They are welcomed by the captain and airhostess. It is announced that what are the duties of the passenger in the running airplane. All the passengers are obliged to follow the hard and fast rules of the airplane.
At last, the plane landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Mita looked around and saw a garden of trees and flowers welcoming her. There was a small fountain at the middle of the garden, bringing in cool breeze. Mita’s dream comes true.

Floating market

That’s like of market is called a floating market because the trade takes place on boats. It was established by Chinese traders. In the past, people from inland areas brought their agricultural produce or handicrafts to sell. They bartered with people from the coastal areas. Nowadays, people can buy things such as fruit, vegetables, traditional cakes and even clothes from this market. Another unique feature of these markets is the time of trading. It begins around 5 a.m. and finishes at 9a.m. It is still going strong. Travelers and visitors can find traditional Thai food here, as well as locally produced fruit and vegetables and other food products. Floating Market remains a real gem for visitors who are searching for the “real” Thailand.
Mita read about the floating market in the internet, and wanted to see it. They decide to go to the Tha Kha floating market inBankok. On Sunday they started for Thaka Kha floating market. They planned to have breakfast at the market. They reached the market place sharp at 7am. The canals were surrounded with coconut palm trees. They hired a boat. The boatman started to row slowly taking them to the centre of the market. Everywhere are boats and boats. The sellers were mainly elderly Thai women. Their small boats were laden with bundles of lotus flowers, farm-fresh coconuts, fruits, vegetables, local food, and delicious sweets. The sellers and buyers rowed their boats slowly. The sellers displayed their goods for sale and the buyers chose their pick. They could have a little chit-chat as buying and selling was going on.

Originally, the Tha Kha floating market used to sit only six or seven days a month depending on the phase of the moon. Now a days, the trade takes place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays too. The main buyers here are the Tha Kha natives. People seem to know each other very well. Everyone was seen smiling and calling each other by name. The locals did not notice Mita and others much. They were all busy buying and selling.

Enjoying the business for a long time they were hungry. They rowed near the boat of an elderly woman, who was selling food. She welcomed them with a smile and showed them the foods. The Tha Kha people are simple and easy going. They are very friendly and polite.Mita was delighted to see a traditional Thai floating market. She took a lot of pictures with the elderly sellers.

Tree Plantation

Trees are very much important for our existence. They are closely related to our life. Without trees we do not get oxygen which is very much related to the existence of human beings as well as other animals. Tree plantation is a major issue at this moment over the world. Trees are one of the main elements working to save our environment. Reckless cutting down of trees and deforestation are harming our climate and ecosystem tremendously. The world’s temperatures are getting warmer gradually. It is a global concern. Plantation of trees is thus a crying need of the time. Other than the aforesaid issue, trees come to our help in many ways. Trees take in carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. Fruit-bearing trees provide us with many types of fruits for our good health. Herbal trees are useful for treating diseases. They give us shade and reduce our tiredness. Sufficient trees cause rainfall and prevent draught. Trees along the roadside and coastal areas prevent erosion and tidal bore. They give us fire woods as fuel for cooking. They are used as timber for making eye-catering furniture. They are even used for railway slippers and they produce rubber too. Trees help us to fight natural disasters like flood, cyclone, earthquake, etc. But many inconsiderate people cut down trees randomly. But now- a-days people are conscious about the importance of tress and the government is trying its utmost to raise the awareness of the people about this matter. As a result tree is now being planted and we observe the tree plantation day every year. June and July are the best time for tree plantation. Besides our garden or home sides tress are being planted by the side of the road and highways. Attempts should be make the programme grand success so that we can live in a better world and Massive awareness is essential among people for tree plantation.

First Flight

I got an opportunity to visit from Chittagong to Saudi Arabia by flight on January 02nd, 2013. This was my first flight experience. My Dad and I reached the airport at 8:30 PM. Our flight BG 345 was scheduled to leave at 9:30 PM. So we had our dinner at the airport itself. The flight was on time and luckily I got the window seat. So I had an extra benefit in my first experience.
We were ready and waiting for the take off. Firstly the plane went on the run way till the opposite end and all the while I was feeling as if I am sitting in a bus. But finally it took an about-turn and the speed increased exponentially. Within a few seconds we were high, up in the sky. The view was breath-taking. The roads seemed like bright lighted lines, the houses and cars seemed like toys. Even the clouds were below us. The actual city looked like a toy model of a city. My ears were humming initially when the plane increased the height, but later on everything was fine.
Almost everyone was asleep, but I was so happy and excited that I could not even think of sleeping Again there was similar view from the top. Time just flew and very soon we landed at Jeddah.
The Jedda airport is awesome. A bus dropped us till the airport. So May planes were lined up there. Our plane was at 72 numbered stop so you can imagine the view. There was so much rush at the airport that it seemed like a railway station I must admit that I am in love with Jeddah at first sight. Even at night the city looked so beautiful and well maintained. It is like heaven for a nature lover like me. It was so cool and pleasant that unknowingly I fell asleep in the taxi and missed the night view.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself all the while.

How to make a delicious dish (custard)

Custards are one of those desserts that never should have gone out of style. They are made of eggs and milk (with some sugar), they are better for us than most other desserts. I’ll give a recipe for very easy custard with syrups or fruit or in a pie crust. We like custards but admittedly. This recipe is so easy,
Easy Custard
• 4 cups milk
• 6 large eggs
• 2/3 cup sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 tablespoon vanilla
1. Heat the milk until hot, two or three minutes in the microwave.
2. Whisk the eggs until smooth. Combine the eggs and the milk.
3. Add the sugar, salt, and vanilla and stir until dissolved.
4. For a smoother custard, pour the mixture through a strainer. Stir again.
5. Pour the custard into custard dishes, a casserole dish, or a pie shell.
6. Bake at 325 until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. In individual servings, that should be about 30 minutes. In a single dish, about 60 minutes.
7. Cool before serving.
Traditionally, custards are served with caramel sauce. Sliced strawberries or fresh blueberries doused in a gourmet fruit syrup also work well with custard. Now let’s enjoy having custard.

Keeping good health

Happy are those people who have blessed with good health. It is aptly said that health is wealth. One can enjoy the life and its beauty by possessing a good health. One can accumulate much wealth through hard effort. But, once the health goes out of control many problems may crop up. Thanks to the development of science and technology we can enjoy and make up good health.

The science of good health starts with the journey of eating right food at the right time. The place is also considered. The proper hygiene place also occupies an important role in developing good health. People generally avoid dirty places and unhygienic environment. Balanced diet has to be maintained as schedule in our busy life.

Some people do skip breakfast and try to make any lunch which is not at all good from the health point of view. Having a breakfast is better than having right away lunch. Empty stomach sometimes may lead to various disorders. The art of managing health can be better understood by visiting to a Dietician, who may provide us with valuable suggestions what to eat and the quantity of intake.

Exercise may also help in digestion and lot of calories is burnt during the same. Through proper exercise one can certainly keep good health. Yoga can be good for all. The practice of yoga regularly helps in keeping oneself fit and helps in reducing the mental tension.

Today’s life is very busy with lot of works to be done. It may not be possible for some people to look after their health at all the time. But trying to chalk out a programme for health purpose will help a lot. Nothing is better than keeping good health. Finally health brings happiness and joy not only in our life and also on the dependents.

The word ‘hygiene’ means the practice of keeping ourselves clean. Merriam-Webster’s Medical Dictionary defines hygiene as practices conducive to health. It also means to keep our home and work places clean. It is important for our good health. Poor personal hygiene can cause skin diseases and worm infestations, diarrheal diseases and dental diseases. Proper personal hygiene not only keeps you looking and smelling clean, but can also prevent the spread of infection. Hygiene is thought to be next to godliness. It is because we cannot achieve anything physically, mentally or spiritually if we are unclean in our body, mind and soul.
Nobody likes an unclean person either. So we must follow the rules of hygiene. First, we must keep our body clean. We should have a bath every day and wash our hair regularly. This will keep the body and hair free from dirt and bacteria. Secondly, we should wash our clothes regularly. Dirty clothes give off bad smell and invite germs. We should wear socks and shoes when we go out to protect our feet from dust and germs. It is also important to wash our hands before meals and after using the toilet. We should brush our teeth twice a day, after breakfast and supper. We must also cut our nails regularly. Our drinking water must be pure. We can get pure water by boiling and filtering. Thirdly, We should cook food in clean utensils and always cook fresh vegetables after cleaning them properly. Maintaining food hygiene is good for your health. Don’t eat food beyond expiry date.
Finally, we should keep our surroundings and environment clean. If we do and follow all the above things properly, we will be able to lead a healthy and happy life.

How to make a class forum.

In ancient Rome – a public place where meetings were held it is called forum. Originally forum means a place where people can exchanges opinions and ideas on particular issue.
According to our textbook we see the student of class eight and stay in the school till last hour. In the tiffin hour they take their tiffin in the class room. Sometimes they sharpen their pencil with sharpener and sometimes they tear pages. For this, every day the class room is to be cleaned by the cleaner of the school. One day he was absent. The class teacher entered the class room and saw the class room was so dirty. He told the students that they should keep their class room neat and tidy however the school cleaner absent or present so what. Because, the classroom is their study room. And every student should keep their classroom neat and tidy every time. It is their own duty. The student was influenced by their class teacher advice. The class captain made a forum and selected a leader and then divided the cleaning activities among different groups.
For the purpose of their classroom clean and hygienic they also decided to make some ground rules. All of the students are obliged to obey those rules. Those rules are:
• Do not spit in the class.
• Do not drop litter in the class.
• Use the bin for trash.
• Keep the desks and chairs in place.
All the students are very excited to be a member of the forum and involved themselves in the activity of their school.
